Olivia has been mentoring these two sisters for over a year. As a member of Redeemer Community Church in Birmingham she was interested in building some intentional relationships outside of her comfort zone. Though her vocation as a behavior analysis keeps her busy, she always finds time to connect with the girls. While they have attended baseball games, pizza parties and many other gatherings its the sleep overs and visits to the store that have created an inseparable bond. She has gone through some challenging situations with the girls and remains a huge advocate for their well-being.
In her words, “As Christians it’s very important to get out of our comfort zone and to pursue interracial relationships. This is a wonderful guided way to do that. It’s something that has blessed my life so much and I’m very thankful for the opportunity to do this. It’s not easy to find these things in the sphere of Birmingham that I inhabit.” One of Olivia’s goals is to help the girls apply biblical knowledge to everyday life. She is already doing this through modeling godly character right before them.
Olivia continues to build trust and has made a huge impact on these sisters. We are so thankful for mentors like Olivia that have intentionally invested their time into something eternal.
